I should post without comment as time is not with me today, but can't let this one go by.
The UK needs more people to think in the way of Clarissa Williams, President of the National Association of Head Teachers, certainly more of those in Government. Reward those who love their children and value their family, and don't use school as an excuse to 'get rid of the kids' as quickly as possible (as I have heard supposedly loving parents say much too often in my vicinity) just so those parents can be childless again for most of the waking day.
It's time to help those who want to be the best parents they can possibly be -- and yes, this does include single parents who want to stay at home for their children instead of palming them off on a government vetted child minder. Where is the logic in paying minders to be surrogate parents when there are many out there willing to spend that time with their children but can't because they are being forced back into work?
Where has this anti-parenting mindset come from, this anti-family attitude? How have we become so very undervalued as parents? This country makes no sense whatsoever to me at the moment.
The system wants us to turn out good and valuable members of society, of the human race, but we are not trusted with our own children to do that very job. Ridiculous.
